Job Description:

The VA In East Orange NJ is looking for a Staff Physician- Pulmonary/ Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. The role will be primarily to help with managing the sleep lab and expanding the sleep clinic, but there will be some duties as a pulmonary attending both in the clinic and hospital, as well as some rotations as attending in the ICU. The position involves inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. The candidate will have educational responsibilities for Pulmonary/Critical Care fellows, Internal Medicine residents and medical students. Applicants must possess a full and unrestricted license in any state. Applicants must be board certified in Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certification/ eligibility in Pulmonary Disease. Critical Care Medicine are strongly preferred. Board certification/ eligibility in Sleep Medicine is necessary. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Attending responsibilities for the ICU team (Medical Residents)Critical Care and pulmonary consultationTeaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff Pulmonologist. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and Fellows is required.The staff Pulmonary/Critical Care Specialist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.Inpatient and/or outpatient consultations for Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.The staff Pulmonary/Critical Care Specialist provides expanded access to services via off normal tour or on call periods.Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion.
Work Schedule:
