Job Description:
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I Profession: Radiology Tech
Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Hours per
Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute
care facility; Must be able to work independently in emergency room
and with trauma patients; Must have operating room experience;
Portable and pediatric experience. License: New Jersey State
License Certifications: Must meet the requirements for the National
Registry and pass the examination Must-Have: Completion of an AMA
approved school of Radiologic Technology. Completion of clinical
and A.R.R.T. requirements. Description: The Radiologic Technologist
I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic
examinations. The role requires a technical level not requiring
constant supervision. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations
by positioning patients. Provides immobilization devices and
selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
Selects and operates equipment as required for specific procedures.
Restricts radiation beams through cone and collimating devices to
prevent non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the
patient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms,
operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Follows operational
procedures to identify patient films with appropriate markings.
Develops exposed x-ray film using available processing methods.
Completes patient requisitions with necessary details. Maintains an
orderly x-ray room as directed by department leadership. Prepares
radiopaque contrast media and assists physicians in administering
these mixtures to patients. Performs administrative duties related
to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, and
maintaining records. Provides assistance to all patients in moving,
turning, and positioning. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and
pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands for at least 6 hours a day.
Identifies and modifies care based on the specific needs of the
patient population served. Communicates effectively with patients,
parents, and caregivers at an appropriate level. Adheres to the
standards identified in the organization's competencies.
